[SOLVED] Nvidia Drivers - Not found/Not 64-bit?

Hello,

I am a new Arch user and I just installed today coming from Ubuntu 9.10, installation was smooth and have gnome running. Everything seems to be working overall, but I can't seem to get my Nvidia drivers installed, according to the Arch wiki I sould install with pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils. However, that gives an error about the package not being found and installing the drivers of the Nvidia site says that I am using Arch 32-bit. That has me confused because I thought that Arch i686 was 64-bit, how can I tell if I am using 64-bit Arch? and how do I install the Nvidia drivers?

Thanks,

i686 is 32 bit.  The "uname -a" command will confirm it.

do pacman -Syu before installing packages. i bet that you had older database and pacman tried to download an older version of nvidia

Oddly enough I have already done that but since I am on 32-bit arch its kind of pointless now, I am going to reinstall 64-bit Arch and post back. Shouldn't take long, I am getting the feel for Arch.

Jee I feel like an idiot now, I miss read the homepage and I thought that i686 was 64-bit lol

As a sidenote, never install the nvidia drivers without using pacman/makepkg. It can give you a lot of problems.
