internet problems

hi. this thread is probably in the completely wrong category, i couldn't decide whether it should go here or in installation. anyways...

i am very new to arch linux, i've gotten it installed, but when i went to get the package for kde, the internet couldn't connect. i don't have wireless, (well i do, but the laptops use it), i have a modem. everything i've tried hasn't worked. i get really confused when it comes to ip addresses, i have no idea how they really work. i followed everything i could find from the wiki, step by step. i also looked through a couple of other threads and nothing clicked.

i tried to ping a couple addresses to see if i had done everything correctly, got nothing.

i'm really not too great with kind of thing yet, but i really wanted to have a learning experience from using archlinux.

if anybody could help me, that would be awesome. i'm happy to answer any questions, too. thank you!

Re: internet problems

Sounds like you've been busy, but if you're going to get help, you need to provide more details. You said you followed the wiki step by step, so post what happened, or didn't happen, at each step.

Relevant resources (which I'm sure you've already read, but just in case):
