Administrative privileges in Xfce

I am using Xfce and would like to run some of the items in my menu that require root privileges. Gparted is an example.

I am unable to do so without starting a root terminal and calling the program from there. Surely I have missed something along the way; there must be a reason that the system does not ask me for root's password or my sudo password.

Ideas?

Regards, Joe

Re: Administrative privileges in Xfce

Dunno about your question but consider using a shell with sudo or gksu or gksudo, ie $ gksu gparted.
