Atom 330 xorg config

Hi,

Just installed Arch on a Atom 330 mini itx based system....D945GCLF2

Loaded Gnome and it looks awful!!

Off to search settings for xorg fonts etc...

Anyone else run Arch on an Atom board?

How does it look awful? Running it without xorg.conf here.

Re: Atom 330 xorg config

do you have the intel video driver installed yet?

xf86-video-intel

should be able to run fine without xorg.conf

Re: Atom 330 xorg config

I loaded hwd [not done an Arch install for years!!!] got a xorg.conf but found no keyboard or mouse so loaded xf86-mouse keyboard.... added dbus hal [added to group as well]

X loaded but fonts are not good, just looks awful

Will check xf86-video-intel

Re: Atom 330 xorg config

you might need some fontsets:

ttf-bitstream-vera
ttf-dejavu
ttf-ms-fonts

and some cairo filters:

Re: Atom 330 xorg config

As litemotiv suggested gnome uses ttf-ms-fonts if installed, so you may be wanting them. If you're not happy with the size of fonts, you may append -dpi XX option to /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc.
One more thing: I suggest running X without xorg.conf if you have Intel GPU, hal should take care of graphic settings detection.

Re: Atom 330 xorg config

Fonts again will check them out

Thanks
