Hello,
I cannot get alsa to give me a 5.1 channels support with my HDMI output.
With pusle audio I get at least 5.0, but alsa just gives me stereo...
I tried playing with the asound.conf without any success.
(in case I am using the HDMI output of a radeon 4670 card)
Any idea?
Thanks!

Yeah, kill yourself now
I've tried to get HDMI 5.1 output on my Ubuntu media box for months now and it just doesn't work very consistently.

Should I just stick to pulse then? It gives me 5.0 at least... but I'd like to have unaltered audio...

I'll see if I can track down some of the HDMI Alsa web sites I used which sometimes seemed to work but usually ended in failure.

Did you check the ALSA wiki pages? There's some HDMI info there:

Yeah, but I don't see much that deals with my issue ![]()
I compiled 1.0.22.1 alsa-driver this morning on top of the 2.6.32.2 kernel but it is still the same.
