Display virtual terminals on external monitor?

Recently my laptop's LCD is broken so I attached an external monitor. After x starts everything is fine, however all the display of virtual terminals goes only to the original broken monitor. Is there a way I can let VTs to display on the external monitor?

I am using open source raedon driver on an ATI x300, with KMS enabled in kernel 2.6.31.6.

Re: Display virtual terminals on external monitor?

I would think it is more of a function of the video card as to which is the "main" display. Maybe there is a setting in the bios that tells it to ignore the builtin display? Or maybe there is a key sequence that will switch between the laptop and the external display? The only reason it is working under X is because the default option for dual monitor setup is the crazy "clone" mode, where each display shows the same thing.

Re: Display virtual terminals on external monitor?

I have set bios to choose the external monitor as primary, so everything including grub was shown in the external monitor as expected. Once the kernel kicks in the display was switched to the original screen...
