mplayer volume

hi,
I have the following problem. everytime I use mplayer, it changes my global volume settings, which means I have to correct them afterwards with alsamixer, that annoys me. So is there a way to change the volume of mplayer, but only for the song I'm currently playing?

Re: mplayer volume

9 and 0 should control mplayers volume without affecting system wide settings.

Re: mplayer volume

hi,
thanks for your reply. you are right, if I press 0-9, the volume changes and the global volume settings are not affected. however, as soon as I start mplayer, the global volume is changed. In other words, I would need a config option for the mplayer config file. does there exists anything?
best regards

Re: mplayer volume

Putting "softvol=yes" in that file should help.
