Whats with Opera fonts

OK so i have had this problem since forever and i have never seen anyone really talka bout it here. Why are the fonts in Opera so sh*tty. I have tried every single opera package on AUR and they are all the same. Right now im running 10.10 from aur and the fonts are not anti-aliasing. I open a page in konqueror and compare it to Opera and its like night and day.

Why is there no anti-aliasing? Is it because im running on x86_64? I cant take any screenshots and upload now because im capped but if anyone can show me theyre opera on x86_64, it would really help.

Re: Whats with Opera fonts

I have no problems with antialiasing: http://misc.barrucadu.co.uk/operafonts.png

However I do have a strange problem where all my screenshots of opera include one black rectangle… Oh well

Barracuda, yours looks very nice indeed. It is getting anti-aliased. Also i have disabled core x fonts but still nothing. Barracuda are you on gnome or KDE?

Re: Whats with Opera fonts

Try installing ttf-ms-fonts.

Re: Whats with Opera fonts

I agree with the OP and I have tried re-installing ttf-ms-fonts to no avail. The fonts in Opera 10 are generally OK, but in places just plain weird, such as the Opera menu and fonts in emails, feeds, etc. I still have been unable to fix this despite playing with many options in about:config.

What fonts is Opera actually using?  i.e. you have ttf-ms-fonts installed, but Opera isn't using them.

O10 is rendering fonts here just as beautifully under Win as under *nix.

Neither, I'm not using a DE.
