Re: [new] kernel26-nitro (2.6.9 -nitro4)

Are you going to release a package for the new 2.6.10-nitro or do we have to build it from the PKGBUILD that was recently released?

I meant a compiled pkg.tar.gz, not the PKGBUILD smile

Re: [new] kernel26-nitro (2.6.9 -nitro4)

I'm building a package in an hour or so -- im too close to my month's download limit to download the 2.6.10 kernel, so i gotta wait till offpeak time at 2 am tongue

I promise a package though! and I plan to make packages for future ones too.

Re: [new] kernel26-nitro (2.6.9 -nitro4)

come you guys 2.6.10-ck1-nitro1 is out lol

lets have some config tweaks ....

compile as modules .... or not ?

what you can remove to make kernel lighter ....

Do not post your whole config but a link would be very helpful ......;-)

Re: [new] kernel26-nitro (2.6.9 -nitro4)

hmm... 1st thing is to uncheck whatever u dont use (not even as modules) to make sure they wont be loaded by others by mistake (xorg loads ipv6 even when no need, hotplug might load un-needed modules, etc). then check-in your specific hardware drivers to reduce "modprobe" time (usually insignificant though...)

the rest is just same i guess... i also load usb as modules since it takes 2 seconds at startup, and its not something i use on a daily basis...

basicly my config file is customized for my hw, and on each kernel update i look at the new options, reading their docs, and changing accordingly. any tweaks are welcomed smile
