X only works as root

I have started X fine as root, but it doesn't start as a normal user.

FATAL: Module fbcon not found.
(EE) VESA(1): Cannot read V_BIOS (3) Input/output error

Uhmmm, we need a little more info concerning your problem....

What have you tried? You followed the wiki?

Do you have a .xinitrc file with your Desktop Environment/Window Manager?
