Disabling Touchpad In Asus eeepc 1005HA

I've been a desktop user for pretty much all of my computing history (14 years, im 24) and getting used to how small a 10" netbook is takes some getting used to. I there a way that I can easily bind a key to a script or command that will temporarily disable the touch pad? Whenever I'm typing something I always seem to hit the touch pad inadvertantly and will start typing in the middle of a sentence, which is really annoying.

If you have the eee acpi package (check the wiki) you can press the button just above the escape key to disable the touchpad. Works on my 1005HA anyways.

Install the gpointing-device-settings program to disable it while typing, I guess gsynaptics also works.

Hehe I was afraid to touch it at first, so I had to read the manual about it smile

It made me think of the history eraser button, old Ren and Stimpy stuff:

"Will he touch the big, shiny, candylike button???" one of the greatest shows ever.
