[solved] Lock the screen without xscreensaver

Hey all

I'd like to find a way to lock the screen on my laptop, similar to the way xscreensaver or gnome-screensaver do this. However, I'm not looking for a screensaver. All I want is the locking functionality. It doesnt even have to hide all my windows or anything, if it can lock all input into a terminal or so until I enter the correct password that would be fine too. Is there a way to accomplish this or will I have to figure out a way to code this by myself?
