Xorg config issues

Hey, all,

After following the wiki, googling about, and searching the forum, I'm still having issues getting Xorg configured. If I log into tty2 as normal user and startx, I get an xterm as expected. I can move the pointer into the window and focus shifts there, but I have no keyboard. I can't exit; I can't switch terminals to reboot. The only option (I know of) that I have is to hard shutdown and restart. I do not have a USB keyboard available.

The machine is an Acer Aspire One 110L, with kernel26-one-dev running.

Here are the relevant config files (/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old returned "No such file found", or it'd be here, too). You'll notice a large section in xorg.conf that I've commented out. I ran hwd, and I assume was the output from that process, but it didn't work at all, so I just commented it out and copied from a sample Aspire One xorg.conf file.

Any help you can give will be much appreciated. If this isn't in the right section, my apologies; I'm new here, remember...

Ok, I ran Xorg -config again, and I got a working keyboard/mouse in xterm. If I uncomment the .xinitrc line above that includes "openbox-session" as it's written, I get a frozen pointer in the middle of a black screen — doesn't respond to left or right clicks. However, if I remove the dbus and exit-with-session commands, it works.

It was in the Arch Beginners Guide that I found that little gem. I do plan on running dbus, and standalone openbox... but for now having a usable graphical interface is the main thing. So, again: If anyone has any relevant input to the problem here, I'd appreciate it.

Just so I'm sure I understand what you're saying, Kai: If I remove the "InputDevice" section that includes "Keyboard0", I'll still have a working keyboard and will be able to use dbus as suggested in the wiki?

Actually, i would try without any xorg.conf... Or do you have any problem with input hotplugging?
