Trouble With Wireless After Installation

I just reformatted my dell inspiron 6000 and am having trouble getting wireless working.

During installation I installed ipw2200, netcfg, and wireless tools under base-devel

Following the wiki guide I loaded the firmware and enabled the radiotap interface and checked it with #iwconfig and got:

lo          no wireless extensions.
eth0      no wireless extensions.
eth1      unassociated ESSID:off/any
            Mode:Managed Channel=0 Access Point: Not-assigned
            etc.....
rtap0    no wireless extensions.

I also did #iwlist scan and it says none of the interface support scanning... and according to wiki I didn't install the firmware... but I did...

My wired connection works fine.  I believe the last time I installed arch I used a wired connection and installed wicd and let it do everything for me... But using a wired connection this time around is rather inconvenient...

What should I try?

Re: Trouble With Wireless After Installation

Make sure that you turn the wireless on via the laptop key for that. Try "iwlist eth1 scan" as root and if it doesn't work, hit the wireless key on the laptop and try again.

Use lspci to see what card you're using and which module you have loaded for it. Very important to know if things aren't working properly.
