tint2

Is there any way sonata's tray icon to be smaller?
The others icons are small,but sonata's icon is huge.
I tried "systray_icon_size =" option,but not helped.

Re: tint2

Is that a vertical tint2? The icons appears normal sized if tint2 is horizontal.

Re: tint2

A vertical tint2 makes normal-sized icons in a giant space for me - regardless of setting systray_icon_size or not.

Re: tint2

It seems that the only solution is two tint2 panels,one horizontal for systray,and one vertical for everything else.

Re: tint2

One solution is to use it with:

sonata --notrayicon

Or one vertical tint2 without systray, and one docker, trayer, or stalonetray for the systray. That's probably what I'd do if I actually needed a systray.

Also, last I saw, no one had reported this bug upstream.

Re: tint2

works with Sonata and tint2 SVN wink

panel_position = center left vertical
panel_size = 100% 54
systray_icon_size = 16

will do

Re: tint2

Since the tint2 update to 0.9-2, I got a problem I haven't been able to fix yet.
I use tint2 with icons only, works great, but my inactive apps... their icons disappear.
I can still click their location, and the app is there and activates. But the icon is not visible on my tint2 taskbar.
I've changed the tint2rc to another name, and restarted tint2 so it makes a new config file and merged some entries.
I noticed the default behaviour of tint2 also does not show icons for the inactive tasks.

I've gotten it to work for iconified tasks. So when I minimize/iconify, the icon is there. But when I switch between apps, Chromium and gedit for example, the icon of the application I switched from disappears.
I've tried "task_inactive_icon_asb = 100 0 0" in there, no effect... Because that one probably does not even exist, as STATUS can be "active", "iconified" and "urgent" according to the tint2 wiki.
tint2 does not display any errors either.

Also, when I switch to another desktop, all the icons of the apps on the first desktop disappear.

Any ideas?

[Edit]
I also noticed by systray icons are pretty much out of order. emesene displays two pixels that match the icon, rest is just like the background...
[Edit2]
I've been able to get the systray back, but the colors are way off...
Reinstalled imlib2 with pacman, no effect.

[Edit3]
I noticed tint2 0.9-3 has been put into the repository, I have -2 here. Put tint2 0.8 back until that update makes it here. 0.8 works perfectly.

Re: tint2

Ultraman,

If you want tint2 0.9-3 try a different mirror.

What about downgrading to tint2-0.8-1? wiki article

Re: tint2

I have downgraded back to tint2 0.8, working fine smile

Could switch mirrors, not in that big o rush, i'll wait for mine to sync up.
Hope 0.9-3 fixes it, but I'm worried it doesn't.

Commenting out the "task_active_icon_asb" is a trick I have not tried yet.
The libjpeg/png update hit, so i'll first get that one going tomorrow and together with it tint2 to 0.9-3. And then I'll try that trick. I bet my problem has to do with the added transparency.

thil77 wrote:

Will sure do if the problem persists. I'm working on my laptop now, my main rig is turned off atm. It's 01:32 in the night, my bed is looking very attractive... I will post tomorrow if I find the time to check this out and performing the upgrade, probably in the evening for me.

[Edit]
Nice! I did the libjpeg/png and all the other updates today. Went without any hiccups, thank you Arch devs *bows*
Also, tint2 0.9-3 does not have the problem I had earlier (or not yet), so that's also good news!
I did comment out the asb lines as well by the way.

Mu current tint2 config. This is based on something I found in the Screenshots thread. Somebody made a tint2 with only icons, which looked better than my attempt at the same thing. Only he uses this on the left side of the screen and I use it horizontally. With the commenting in there this is pretty much the same file I used for 0.8.

Re: tint2

Bumpage.

I still have an issue I am unable to resolve. My systray icons display horrible. Icons looks garbled. I have tried several options in the systray part of the config. My config is stated above this post, with this systray config atm:

#---------------------------------------------
# SYSTRAYBAR
#---------------------------------------------
systray = 1
systray_padding = 5 4 0
systray_sort = ascending
systray_background_id = 0
#systray_icon_size = 0
#systray_icon_asb = 100 0 0

Anyone else having systray issues or ideas on how to fix this?

Re: tint2

Also having issues with tray icons and tint2 0.9.
png icons are pixeled and not well defined with some black borders around them, while svg icons are somehow fused in the background.

Do you confirm?

Re: tint2

For me the tray icons either end up as pixel garbage or the same icon is displayed for all apps, non-animated and discolored, too.

Which kind of xcompmgr did you use? I run xcompmgr-dana in openbox (using the proprietary nvidia driver) and my systray displays ok.

Re: tint2

I was using normal xcompmgr with an Intel graphic card.
I will try the dana one if i will need xcompmgr again, however both xcompmgr and xcompmgr-dana are not supported anymore and I can live without them. wink

Re: tint2

I just remember I had to read back here... tongue So xcompmgr is plotting against me... sad

I really like the composite fading effects and transparency, so I will definitely look up the dana version. But are there any alternatives to xompmgr? I know that compositing should really be built into the WM, but I use Openbox and I don't believe those guys are interested in that sort of thing...
Or should I look into switching to Compiz and abandon Openbox? sad

Re: tint2

Uhm...If compositing is more important than functionality for you, maybe yes, you shouls switch to compiz.
I would try xcompmgr-dana, xcompmgr-git or cairo-compmgr first (--> AUR).
However, I removed xcompmgr a while ago and I'm happier now. You see how xcompmgr is buggy only when you remove it.
Let us now your experiments!
