Downgrading Kernel

kernel26-2.6.32.3-1 crashed my laptop last week so bad I just reloaded it. Pacman -Syu reloaded it after I new installed and it's too buggy to fool with. I found kernel26-2.6.31.6-1 on http://www.schlunix.org/archlinux/core/os/. My question is what other critical packages do I need to get it to boot again?
Thanks

Re: Downgrading Kernel

If you install the kernel26-2.6.31.6-1 and the firmware package you should be fine to boot.

Edit:  to get into x you may need to downgrade your video drivers e.g. nvidia.

Re: Downgrading Kernel

I would say that system will not let you donwgrade a package if there will be some inconsistency in dependencies, I mean it will ask you to donwgrade other packages if necessary.
I used for this out of date repository and I was asked to downgrade also following:
glibc (2.11.1-1 -> 2.11-1)
binutils (2.20-3 -> 2.20-2)
(+virtualbox**** ? )

Re: Downgrading Kernel

Tried it and ndiswrapper and tiax wouldn't match up so I did a pacman -Ud which ignore dependecies. Downgraded the intel video driver  but could never do a startx. tiax is not needed on the older kernel and ndiswrapper's probably doesn't effect boot. Soooo, I did a pacman -Syu and got my buggy kernel back and hopefully the kernel will be fixed soon. My biggest problems are freezing, laptop lid closing causing black screen and samba issues. Also couldn't get netcfg2 to work so downgraded to netcfg. Spent 3 days troubleshooting and right now I'm just tired of messing with it. Might feel better after a good nights sleep.:D
Thanks for the help...

Re: Downgrading Kernel

You can look at this my comment http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php? … 06#p683206. It is about downgrading...
Generally - dont force installation of packages!
