Hi all,
I don't know if this is the appropiate forum. Forgive me if it is not, please.
When I try to mount my usb disk (750GB, ext4) I got
Error mounting: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdc1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so
so I do dmesg | tail
sd 7:0:0:0: [sdc] ASC=0x11 ASCQ=0x0
sd 7:0:0:0: [sdc] CDB: cdb[0]=0x28: 28 00 01 54 08 4f 00 00 18 00
end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 22284367

sd 7:0:0:0: [sdc] Result: hostbyte=0x00 driverbyte=0x08

sd 7:0:0:0: [sdc] CDB: cdb[0]=0x28: 28 00 00 00 00 41 00 00 02 00
end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 65
EXT4-fs (sdc1): unable to read superblock
Can I recover the data on this disk? Is it posible? How to do?
and, Could it be a hardware failure? How to know it?
Thank you in advance,
kInU.

did you try to fsck the partition?

Those errors are usually indicative of hardware failure on your drive. You can try an "fsck" as mkheagle8 suggested.
Then try smartmontools: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Smart
If that does not work burn your self a copy of the Ultimate Boot CD and see if you can repair the hard drive with its hard drive tools.

Hi,
fsck gives me:
fsck from util-linux-ng 2.16.2
e2fsck 1.41.9 (22-Aug-2009)
fsck.ext2: Attempt to read block from filesystem resulted in short read mientras se intentaba abrir /dev/sdc1

Today I'm gonna get Ultimate Boot CD, but.... Do the Seagate tools recover some data? I have some files I'd like to rescue.

AFAIK the Seagate tools will attempt to repair bad sectors but they are not data recovery tools. See if you can fix the drive first then worry about data recovery after that.
