[new] kernel26-nitro (2.6.10-nitro1)

Ok guys, as promised, here it is, the new nitro. Sorry for the delay - i had to stay up till 2am to download the 2.6.10 kernel source smile

pkgbuild at the same place:
http://aslan.no-ip.com/~iphitus/arch/kernel26-nitro/

compiled package:
http://aslan.no-ip.com/~iphitus/arch/ke … pkg.tar.gz

Just a note guys, that sepi - the nitro packager is away, and he's got someone else doing them in the meantime. So this kernel isnt as great as the others, Software Suspend 2 seems to be missing, as with many of the patches from the -ac patchset. Had to add an extra patch too to fix some stuff. I'll post a cko build later this afternoon which has these cool features.

iphitus

ps: i shoved em in a repo cause i felt like it tongue so if ya wanna use that, its in my sig

Re: [new] kernel26-nitro (2.6.10-nitro1)

I downloaded and installed the 2.6.10-nitro-1 package, then rebooted.  During init there were 10-15 error messages after hotplug starting.  They all said something was missing in /etc/hotplug/usb/pnp/distmap or something very similar.  I could not find the data in any of the log files in /var/log and they scrolled by quickly.  I only use usb for my scanner, which is not here presently, so I am unable to test if my usb is working.  I hope this helps to troubleshoot the problem.  These error messages were not present in the 2.6.9-nitro-4 package or in the standard arch kernel.

Re: [new] kernel26-nitro (2.6.10-nitro1)

Theres some new pnp stuff in this kernel, so that's probably the cause of this. I dont use hotplug and all my usb stuff works, mouse, sd card reader, external drive. Those who use hotplug, disable it's startup and see if everything works without it.

it isn't corrupted. it's that the

that is the index of the repository, isn't updated.
try directly with:

pacman -U /var/cache/pacman/pkg/kernel26-nitro-2.6.10-1.pkg.tar.gz

p.s. I have just installed it. good work iphitus! thx another time  wink

The CKO compiled is up there, it's pkgbuild is just a modified nitro, and the config is also almost identical to the nitro. I'm making a new one next month, properly configged and all.

I'll put the pkgbuild up so you can make one yourself with your own config if you wish

Re: [new] kernel26-nitro (2.6.10-nitro1)

why make kernel pkgs to distribute?

surely the whole point of having a custom kernel is so that it is customized for your system - you'll prolly get more of a performance boost by selecting the correct processor when you build than by using any amount of patches!

post the pkgbuilds by all means - why make generic custom packages?

Re: [new] kernel26-nitro (2.6.10-nitro1)

maybe you should replace the filenames of the sources, like the config file or the the boot image to urls pointing to you webspace, it would ease the use of the PKGBUILD file (just a makepkg).

Re: [new] kernel26-nitro (2.6.10-nitro1)

Hi, this my first time trying the nitro kernel, at first boot of the new kernel loading ndiswrapper module on boot just failed, but boot continued seemingly normally, so I recompiled ndiswrapper, that gave me a bunch of stuff I did not understand and a freeze when I had to hard reboot, ever after booting the nitro kernel gives me the same thing before boot finishes... help?
