Pacman fetches packages very slowly

Hi everyone,

I am finding that when doing a system package update it is very slow. The time between the end of the last package and the start of the next package usually takes 4-6 seconds.

So when a package reaches 100% download, pacman seems to pause for 5 seconds and then begins the next package.

I have tried another mirror and the same thing happens.

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Try the fastest mirrors.

Also, try

pacman-optimize

Also try using a Pacman helper like Powerpill, which will download packages concurrently and from multiple mirrors.  It will let you fully utilize your high-speed Internet connection (or you can set a speed limit on how much bandwidth it can use at once) for downloading packages.
