yaourt simply blocks

Hey,

I'm not quite sure if this is the right forum for my problem, but please feel free to move it if not smile

I'm using archlinux with yaour for more than 10 months without any (mayor) troubles, but for some days now yaourt makes very strange things; it simply blocks at yaourt -Su; all other commands work without any problems (install, remove, ...) but the update command simply does nothing?

pacman -Su works like a charm. I use yaourt -> powerpill -> pacman setup, but I cant find any yaourt/powerpill logs and the pacman log looks fine at all.

I searched for the issues for some days now and I'm at my wits' end sad Any ideas what I could try or at least where I can take a look at to produce a useable error log?!

kind regards,
Andreas

Re: yaourt simply blocks

People seem to be migrating away from yaourt to other AUR helpers due to problems with yaourt or its apparent lack of development/support. If you already use powerpill, you might consider switching to bauerbill. There are also several other yaourt replacements which you can find by searching the forum (packer, paktahn, etc).

mhm, not exactly the solution I was looking for, but nevertheless a great one smile --> yaourt replaced with bauerbill; thanks at all for the quick "workaround"!

Well, aside from the shameless self-plug, I think that instead of plugging holes in a sinking ship, it's better to jump onto another one instead. wink

Nevermind this; Thank you really much for your great work with bauerbill! I'm starting to love it wink (and further more you've also pointed out other plugins too wink)

Re: yaourt simply blocks

Hi there!

I had the same problem as you, Eyeball, but it seems the problem did not lie with yaourt.

I tried bauerbill, which also blocked at the update process. I then removed the

PacmanBin /usr/bin/powerpill

line in yaourtrc and it worked like a charm again. Might the problem lie with powerpill?

P.-S. Sorry Xyne, bauerbill sure looked like a good solution smile.

@valandil
Could you please post this in the Powerpill thread, along with any information about where it blocked (which packages were you upgrading, which messages did it display, etc)?
