loosing files on shutdown (ext3)

This summer sometimes the power goes out in my neighbourhood...

And I loose files... the worst thing is that I have no idea about wich files I loose...
I suppose it is opened files, saving files, etc... for example files being downloaded in amule, the amule config, etc...

there is no way to "save" orphaned inodes, characteristics, or something... to at least have an idea about wich files were compromised?

Every time power go out I will need to use a livecd, run fsck over the partitions, etc ?

If this is a frequent occurrence then invest in a UPS.
