Goodnight everyone
would like to know how to go about trying to use a different generic driver from nvidia and compiz to run the basics?
Today, after gdm errors due to the nvidia driver is not compatible, I'm using vesa, but I wonder if you have any solution on the new nvidia driver to solve this problem? Currently I am using the version of nvidia-190.42-1-i686.
I look forward to

Just a question, did you try 190.53? I have this version, gdm and nvidia 7600GT, and I didn't experienced any problem. Okay, i am using arch for 3 weeks only ![]()

Ok I will test the 190.53 nvidia driver, but would like the full name of it to install pacman with beauty.
and as soon as possible I'll post the result.

nvidia 190.53-3
It is in the extra.
If you have the earlier version installed I think a pacman -Syu (full system upgrade) will do.
Anyway here is a newer beta http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15152
I used it with ubuntu 9.10 without problem.

I checked and found out that I'm using this version, but compiz does not run the same way.
Do I have to change something in xorg.conf that is as vesa?

It was resolved as follows:
After having filled my hd, I just have to format the machine and install everything again. Now I'm using 64-bit version. I am using the latest nvidia driver at the moment.
Thank you for everyone's help
