How do I install KDE 4.4? I really want to try it.
I have KDEmod now, 4.3.
Would I need to remove it after I install KDE 4.4?

You need Testing repos enabled for both Arch and KDEMod.

Just to clarify: thats wrong We almost never build against testing, even KDEmod-testing is compiled against Arch core/extra.
want a modular and tweaked KDE for arch? try kdemod

kde-unstable doesn't exist anymore, kde 4.4 rc3 is in testing, so just enable testing and community-testing.
For kdemod see http://chakra-project.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?id=2171

Qt4.6 ain't in Extra, or are y'all KDEMod folks back to supplying your own Qt? I thought at one point y'all used Qt from Extra.
Thx for correcting my misunderstanding

Now there's a qtmod package... That replaces Qt.

Whatever I do, I always end up with something horribly mis-configured.

Yes, its there since 4.3.0 already
People, sometimes i am asking myself how some of you survived the Arch installation. Reading documentation, news etc is still essential, even when using Chakra/KDEmod

If you want KDE 4.4 and Qt 4.6, use KDEmod core/testing with Arch core/extra. Do NOT mix KDEmod testing with Arch testing.
Edit: ^ what funkyou said

To be fair I last used KDEMod in the late 4.2 series and have been elsewhere since, and was running on memory and not enough coffee at the time

From the arch-dev mailing list (which you SHOULD be subscribed to if you use testing):
The same Information about kde-unstable now apply to testing:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dev … :KDE#Users Note that the kde-
unstable repository will be removed soon.If you update you have to use the following commands as pacman is not able to
resolve the dependencies otherwise:% pacman -Sy --asdeps qt
% pacman -Su
So if you are not willing to have a few things maybe break, then do not enable testing!
