strange errors and no udev!

hi there!
demesg gives me for example this:

ACPI: Subsystem revision 20041210
    ACPI-1138: *** Error: Method execution failed [MCTH] (Node dffee280), AE_AML_BUFFER_LIMIT
    ACPI-1138: *** Error: Method execution failed [_SB_.PCI0._INI] (Node dffeee00), AE_AML_BUFFER_LIMIT
Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=arch ro root=343 devfs=nomount
devfs: 2004-01-31 Richard Gooch (rgooch@atnf.csiro.au)
devfs: boot_options: 0x0

and then , when all the deamons were startet , first is something with
::devfs  FAIL
a lot of erros are following with lots of missing files and errors e.g. in my rc.multi
and deamons like jack wont start too :-(
when i run /etc/./start_udev by hand, it works, but xterm does not want to start again.
when i shut down there are also many errors like gdm is not running (but it is)

so how do i really start udev, i followed the instructions in arch wiki and what about not starting deamons and my strange acpi errors???

greetings matto :?

Re: strange errors and no udev!

Don;t really know much about this, I just followed the Wiki entry to sort out my udev.

Have you put the append="nodevfs" (or whatever it is) in your lilo.conf or grub.conf??

Re: strange errors and no udev!

I cannot be sure if you have a udev problem or ACPI ... :?

are you still running 0.6 ?

more /etc/arch-release

Maybe I'm not helping that much  lol

Re: strange errors and no udev!

hi again!

[matto@hansa ~]$ more /etc/arch-release
Arch Linux 0.7 (Wombat)

i think i am running 0.7 ;-)
... i think i have a problem with ACPI but i do not know if this effects udev?!?!?
my mainboard does not support cpu´s with more then 800 Mhz and i have a 900 Mhz Duron ;-) if i shutdown my pc and try to start it up again, it dows NOT work,(only lamps are on ,nothing else) but if i take my pc hardly away from power supply and plug it in again , it works fine!
btw i have had fewer problems with devfs ... but "switching" back does not work .. (more errors then now ;-) )
ok i can format my hd and reinstall but i am too lazy for that.. :-)

what shall i do now???
btw do anyone know how to start jack audio correctly and install nvidia with the mm kernel????

greetings matto

Re: strange errors and no udev!

Try instead of

append="devfs=nomount acpi=force"

this one :

devfs=nomount acpi=force

You don't need "append" word, it says what to do with quoted string.
