Input/output error - Pacman

I can't seem to update my system

I get

error: could not change directory to /var/lib/pacman/sync/archlinuxfr/ (Input/output error)
error: failed to update archlinuxfr (unexpected system error)

If I try

sudo chmod -R 0777 /var/lib/pacman/

I get this error

chmod: cannot access `/var/lib/pacman/sync/archlinuxfr': Input/output error

Any ideas??

Your db looks screwed.
Can you do, 'pacman -Syy'
Try commenting out the archlinuxfr repo also, just for now.
