which WM ??

hello,

which WM choose?
awesome, dwm, ratpoison, xmonad ?

main targets:
- quick setup
- tilling mode
- floating mode on selected windows
- compatibility with xcompmgr ( smooth resizing of windows )
- tiny window decorations

anyone use tmux or screen ?

awesome, xmonad, and dwm can all handle floating on selected windows. They all need some programming knowledge to configure. Of course you can use other people's configurations, so whether you'd consider that fast or not is up to you. Awesome uses Lua, Xmonad uses Haskell, and DWM uses good ol' C. That being said, awesome does come with more than what the others offer out of the box.

I'm not sure what window decorations you're looking for, but they all allow you to change the border colors, and are compatible with xcompmgr.

I think there's a lot of people who use tiling wm who also use tmux/screen. I'm currently using tmux in ratpoison. If I do decide to switch to a different tiling wm, you can bet I'll still have tmux, if not switch to screen.

I love wmii.
Sane defaults, tiny, comfortable.
Config file is simply text.
No need to touch it if you don't want.

Try awesome, dwm, scrotwm, ratpoison xmonad.. and find your favorite. And yes, I use tmux smile Great application.

now i`m searchin for widgets and setup help

tmux have tabs ? tile terminals?

screen also has tabs and can tile terminals as well. Albeit, you need to apply a patch for vertical splits.
