Re: Problem after uncompleted? update.

It looks as if it had some problems accessing the mirror at "mirrors.dotsrc.org" so then what it usually does is goes on to the next one.  It appears the next in line isn't updated.

I like using reflector myself for this.

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Reflector

^ Worked great for me.  Be sure to see 'man reflector' for options which allow you to specify only mirrors which are updated within x hours or to just use the X most updated mirrors.  One could even set this up as a cron job to run automatically at an interval to keep the mirrors in snyc and optimized.

Re: Problem after uncompleted? update.

Im having this problem too, it has to do with the recently updated libpng and libjpg which went up to 1.4 while a lot of apps still need 1.2 a temporary workaround Im going to try is to install libpng12 from the aur and was told it should fix that problem. Everything should iron itself out within a few days.

all packages from our repositories was rebuilt. if you have unsupported packages is your duty to rebuilt them. to find out them pacman -Qm. if in the list is cairo, that is your source of your problems.

this message is for other participants of this thread.

especially Nerous. i don't see cairo there in the list.

Re: Problem after uncompleted? update.

You're kind of new so I should mention that After finding updated mirrors do (as mentioned) :

pacman -Syy

As this will force a resync and it is very much necessary whenever you change a mirror.

then do the full update:

pacman -Syu

(Just to make sure you know what is actually going on with those commands and why you need them)

Re: Problem after uncompleted? update.

you guys should use debian if you want old, outdated software. i'm amazed at how many archers are installing those old libs. not saying it's bad by design but i thought archers were interested in bleeding edge.

all you have to do is to rebuild cairo-cleartype against the new libpng or use cairo from the repo.

the easy method and the stupidest as well. if you have installed cairo-cleartype you clearly know how to build packages in arch. how hard is to rebuild a freaking package and then reinstall gtk2?

Re: Problem after uncompleted? update.

Hi guys, i had the same problem ...
This is my solution:

1) Download http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/libp … z?download, than unpack
2) ./configure and than make , after this u will get compiled library in .libs directory
3) copy libpng12.so.0 from .libs to /usr/lib/

Now You can run firefox and chromium, Good Luck !!
Nerous You can close the topic, is solved. See Ya !

Nerous You can close the topic, is solved. See Ya !

That's about the worst advice possible to give. Please follow the advices given by wonder instead. Short story, just recompile the custom/aur packages.

/tmp/yaourt-tmp-lightmen/aur-libpng12/libpng12/./PKGBUILD: line 29: aclocal: command not found
==> BŁĄD: bulding failed.
    closing ...

Re: Problem after uncompleted? update.

Unless you are dependent on some propiary binary only app that links against libpng12, then don't build it at all. You don't need it. As for the error, it's quite self explaining. It can't find the command aclocal, so check if you have it.

Re: Problem after uncompleted? update.

Why do you need libpng12 anyway? Are you relying on some propiary binary only app?

[rothola@zulu ~]$ pacman -Qo /usr/bin/aclocal
/usr/bin/aclocal is owned by automake 1.11.1-1

Thank you all cool

the easy method and the stupidest as well. if you have installed cairo-cleartype you clearly know how to build packages in arch. how hard is to rebuild a freaking package and then reinstall gtk2?

Well, i just wanted to do my job, was desperate lol tongue
Calling this stupidest, i guess that there is a chance that something will go wrong with my system... any advice acceptable.

I am not desperate anymore for solution, because i can browse lol So i won't follow the easiest way... tongue
