Verify backups script?

I use Duplicity to make remote encrypted backups of my home directory.

I have used the restore function to get all my data from the backups to an unencrypted local storage area.

I want to verify these files against the files in my home directory; my thought is to use md5 or something on each file in turn, then compare them.

There must be some script out there that does this already, but Google doesn't turn up anything too useful.

What does everyone do to verify their backups, short of manually checking each one?
