I have a working mutt + getmail (pop3) + msmtp setup. No procmail as I don't really receive 100 emails/day.
I use a normal mbox file to hold the emails.
Problem is that I can't seem to download all the messages that I have in my gmail inbox now. All that getmail downloads are new mesages.
I know by default it should get only new emails, but I also tried `getmail -a`, which should download all messages, but still nothing.
Any ideas?

gmail has an option in webmail where you can setup this behavior. maybe is set to download mails that arrives from now on.
Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

There is a read_all option in the configuration file. I don't know which has precedence, but you might want to check that.
getmail --dump
is a quick way to check your config if it's in the default place (~/.getmailrc), otherwise you need to go and look at the file.
Otherwise, you may want to try and delete your oldmail* files from your config directory.
If neither of those work, you should turn on verbose and check the log and see what's being reported. I think it can be specified multiple times to get more info.

use
recent:user_name@gmail.com
in place of the regular user name, it'll get *all* the mail from the account. It's a gmail thing, so it works with fetchmail, fdm, etc.
/etc/rc.d/ is where daemons reside. Beware.

Well, this last thing worked. It didn't get them ALL (102 out of 200 in the inbox), but it's better than nothing. Thanks everybody !
Edit, nvm,it worked...
