Problem with Skype (incoming video)

Just installed skype from the AUR (im on a 64 bit system) and am having some problems with the incoming video.

It will work perfectly, until i open another app or switch workplaces. The instant i do that it will stop grabbing the video, and instead the picture will be frozen to whatever was behind it on the desktop (for example, the wallpaper). I have tried bin32-skype and bin32-skype-qtstatic, but both produce the same errors. The only other programs that were up when i tested this were wicd and tint2. I think it may have something to do with redrawing that frame because if i move it to a different spot on the screen, minimize it, and open it again, it will have that section of the screen showing where the video should be.

Whoever i am chatting with can still see my video fine, and we can still hear each other perfectly.

My computer is an ASUS EEE pc 1001p. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Re: Problem with Skype (incoming video)

Bump. Any ideas? If i can't get this worked out, can anyone vouch for a good video/voice/chat program that runs on linux and windows?

Thanks

[david@david ~]$ sudo pacman -Rd vlc-plugin
Password:
vlc-plugin not found, searching for group...

Re: Problem with Skype (incoming video)

Yeah, I am also having the same problem. I installed Skype only last month. It has always had that problem: they can hear and see me, but I can only hear them and not see them.

The wiki has some information: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sky … CA_webcams I will try it when I get home.

had a simliar problem. removing the vlc-plugin package helped me.

I don't think I have it installed. I will check later.

Arch Linux 64
GNOME with Compiz
Radeon open source driver

Re: Problem with Skype (incoming video)

Like it says on the Arch wiki on "Skype", I didn't have "lib32-libv4l" installed. I installed it, but, unfortunately, don't know if it solved my problem yet, since I couldn't find anyone online to chat with. Maybe I need more friends. sad

(Another possible solution: see http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=96217)
