Hi,
Does anyone has experience with the new integrated gpus comming with intels new clarkdale processors? I used the forum search, but it doesnt solve every question.
Do they work with KDE? I want to build up a new office machine and need to know if KDE with hardware accelerated kwin would work on it.
Thanks for reply.

I think your best bet is to look for the intel linux pages and see if the processors are supported with the intel-driver. Maybe it will be supported only with a new kernel, so you could also look for the upcoming features of the new kernel.
Once your hardware is supported by the driver / kernel, KDE or compiz will run perfectly. I'm working on a box with G45-chipset and all desktop effects are played perfectly.

The new i3 GPUs need the .33 kernel in order to work properly.

Ok. When it's expected that archlinux will use the 33 Kernel? There are afaik only RCs and i don't want to build it myself, because this won't be my office machine.

probably a week or two after its released... but you already knew that

Hi,
i have a clarkdale system up and running on latest arch packages and arch kernel 2.6.32.7-1, nothing from testing repository.
It works fine up to now. Power consumption is slightly higher than in windows. But network and sound work. I haven't tested the video performance.
I had some file system corruption errors but that's more likely to be caused by my experimenting with ext4 and boot partition, neither of which i usually use.
Mainboard is MSI H55M-ED55 and CPU/GPU is Intel i3-530.
I'll most likely compile a kernel either tonight or tomorrow using 2.6.33-rc.
Update: Well, both kernels work fine - arch and vanilla.

Does audio over hdmi work?

I don't have the means to test that. I know it works in Windows, though, if you're wondering if it's a hardware thing.
