i created the game repository for arch in my pacman.conf like it said on the gaming article in Arch's wiki.
i then entered
pacman -S lincityit downloaded and installed it, but i cannot find it in my menus on Xfce.
i know most are playing the nice shooter games but since im virtualizing i cant run giant games, but lincity i read was small and appealed to me.
does any one have any idea what problem could be occurring or what error i did?
i am a newb to linux so im open to all advice.
thanks for your time guys and gents (if applicable)

For starters, you might want to make your title actually descriptive. I can guarantee that most people won't even read the post because the title tells them jack.
thanks for the pointer, i edited the title of the thread. thanks for pointing that out.

If something doesn't execute, try it in the terminal and post any error messages. Else you're just wasting your time and everyone else's.

something to do with video mode, could be my video settings in my virtualization setups. ill check into it. sorry again. ill execute everything in terminal before posting and asking questions.

Try it in an "xterm -hold". The "-hold" parameter causes xterm to not immediately destroy its window when the shell closes. Wouldn't work with every segfault which possibly kills the xterm, though.

okay the -xterm hold worked like a charm. didnt get the program running but it showed me what the problem. my virtualization machine needs a much bigger display size.
it ran 6 lines stating ALSA lib pcm.c 7236 underrun occured
then an unexpected exception: couldnt set video mode. no video large enough for 1024X768
would this mean i need to make the OS interface larger in display as well as input video options?

Did you try to run lincity-ng in windowed instead of fullscreen mode?
Also you could try to edit the ~/.lincity-ng/userconfig.xml file.
