Network interface

Hi,

I have a problem with "network interface hopping". My wireless interface some times is assigned to eth1, but mostly eth0. I'm using broadcom-wl AUR package.

Anyone had similar problem or knows how to resolve it?

Thanks,
Happy Arch Linux User,
Mateusz.F

Re: Network interface

Hello Matheusz.

Firstly, the wiki mentions this issue and has a tip on preventing it:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bro … every_time

as an alternative sollution, I've been told that manually loading the wired driver (through rc.conf's modules section) BEFORE you load the broadcom driver will result in stable naming.

Re: Network interface

Thank you very much! I should have read the friendly wiki before, but I haven't found it. I hope it will help, although since I switched from wicd to netcfg this problem doesn't happen almost at all.

Re: Network interface

hi guys, i did what was int the wiki (creating the 10-networking.rules file insude udev.d/ and adding the two definition) but still sometimes my eth0 is the wireless interface (and should instead be eth1)... exactly, what's the name of the ethernet module? what do i have to update into rc.conf and how?

this is my modules array into rc.conf (i have autoload set to no)
