New video card

I have a new video card and the ATI wiki. But since I switched form Windows to linux, I never replaced anything of the hardware. So what comes first: replacing the old card with the new card or the installation and configuration of drivers, etc. I would think the first one, but I can't make up my mind.

Re: New video card

I would log out of X, uninstall the old drivers and shut down. Then install the card and startup into console and install the new drivers.
