User Access USB Flash drive

The title pretty much says it all...How do I grant a user permission to mount a USB drive. I tried gpasswd -a username groupname and everything I tried failed. Please any advise will be appreciated..

are you in the hal and dbus groups? also you might need to be in the disk group, I'm not sure

The user is include in the groups: hal, dbus, storage, uucp and disk according the /etc/group file
