[SOLVED] nvidia segfaults with latest update

Hi,

I just updated my other laptop with a Geforce G105m (Arch 64). I played around with cuda/opeńcl before, which required some manual installations.

An ldconfig-problem occured, so I decided to remove anything nvidia-related. A reinstall showed the files that were spilled by the manual installer (conflicts). I removed all of them manually and installed nvidia and nvidia-utils again.

Now, after a reboot, X fails to start, the stacktrace contains calls in libXfont.

The faulty adress 0xffffffffffffb0 looks like a nullpointer-unnderrund or back-traversal, anyway, I decides to reinstall xorg.

Edit:
It happens in "Initializing extension GLX".

Help? hmm

EDIT: Solution: The nvidia installer stored some files in /usr/lib64, i completeley removed that directory. Now everything is up and running again. smile

You found left overs in /usr/lib64?  Did you install via the nvidia package or via pacman???

Re: [SOLVED] nvidia segfaults with latest update

It was either the nvidia-package or a modified PKGBUILD that adapted the opensuse-pkg.
