filesystem won't get recognized on any partition (SOLVED)

hi,
I'm new to archlinux and was trying to install it with the bootable CD - worked fine so far - installation programm loaded.
since I have 2 other OS running (win7 on sda1 and linux mint on sda6 ) on my laptop I decided to partition the disk before booting the cd using gparted in linux mint.
everything went well - I created a / partition with 12 gb , a /home partition with 20 gb and already had a swap partition from linux mint which I intended to use ( I don't know if  I can use one swap for 2 OS but I figured since they are not running simultaniously it shouldn't be a real problem )
well after changing the keymap and font to my desired settings I went on to install the system.
when I tried to manually assign the mountpoints to my devices ( sda3 being my / as primary partition sda4 being my swap and so on ) it just showed me on all sda partitions - raw : no_fs - which is strange since they are all formatted correctly. so I figured to do one step before ( manually partition the hard drive ) and writing the partition table figuring the install program would then know what was going on. didn't work out.
is this a common problem or have I done something wrong ( haven't had too much opportunites to screw things up )? I followed the beginners guide instructions besides the formatting which I had already done before.
Would be really nice if anyone could give me a hint on what I'm missing!
Thanks in advance!

That "raw->no_fs" just means you haven't assigned them, it does not try to detect what's already on it. I think you can even use them without reformatting them, but I am not sure.

Re: filesystem won't get recognized on any partition (SOLVED)

yes my root & home were formatted in xfs & swap was already there ( because of existing other linux installation )
I just had to click no on the question asking if I wanted to recreate the filesystem and tell the installer what system it is - I thought the installer would know automatically but now the install worked after figuring that out ! sorry for my stupidity big_smile
