Files have invalid icons and I can't seem to find a way to fix it.

A very simple C application ( executable ):

main: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.18, not stripped

No matter what icon theme I choose, the icon remains the same. Why and how do I fix it ?

Thunar is getting its icon information from the mime types listed .desktop files. The defaults are in /usr/share/applications and custom versions are stored in ~/.local/share/applications. If you want system wide or distributable programs with your icons, you'll need to create a .desktop file.

The problem here is that I don't want it to have any specific icon but the default one, from my icon theme ( doesn't matter which one .. let's say Tango ).
/usr/share/applications and ~/.local/share/applications didn't helped - just a bunch of applications, not file types.

Edit: application/x-executable isn't associated with any other application.

Still haven't found a fix for this. Apparently this behavior is specific to Thunar but due to their IRC channel inactivity, haven't got any new suggestions or explanations.
Have tried almost everything, including installing various mime utilities, refreshing the cache, etc. - nothing have helped.
