Help with setting up Chromium

Last night I installed ArchLinux x86_64 (coming from Ubuntu Karmic). I did have problems with X and the wireless but eventually managed to fix things using Archwiki. Then I installed Chromuim from extra with pacman but when I execute it I get this:

No protocol specified
(chromium:9668): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0.0

I am using KDE (for now) and the same error happens if I execute the command as root.

[1] Any ideas how to fix this?
[2] Also the Chromium is rather old. On Ubuntu I had the most recent version which was updated every night. What gives?
[3] I have not started looking for installation process for flash and Java plugins (well since Chromuim does not work yet) but info about that would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Help with setting up Chromium

i don't think is related to chromium and i believe that other application give the same warning

1) what's your login method?
2) chromium from our repository follows the releases rather than svn. if you want daily builds use chromium-browser-bin from aur.
3) pacman -Ss flash/jre/openjdk and do a search on wiki about flashplugin/java

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: Help with setting up Chromium

For 1: Are you trying to run it as a different user than the one you are running X as?

Re: Help with setting up Chromium

"what's your login method?"

I enabled graphical login by adding kdm to daemons in rc.conf.

For (2) should I uninstall this current version? I will look up (3). And one more thing, I have my old Chromium config folder, at which point should I copy it here?

well I am logged in as the user but when I run it as root from terminal I still get the same message.
