Hi,
I have a problem with ath9k. He doesn't support 802.11N and that with my D-Link DWA-547 or my eeePC 1000HE. Normally it should do that : http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k
iwconfig shows me that rate is limited to 54 Mb/s :
$ iwconfig wlan0
wlan0 IEEE 802.11bgn ESSID:"monreseau"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.437 GHz Access Point: 00:29:E2:C1:CD:74
Bit Rate=54 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm
Retry long limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
Power Management:off
Link Quality=51/70 Signal level=-59 dBm
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
And iwlist wlan0 scan shows that 802.11N it is not detected :
$ iwlist wlan0 scan
wlan0 Scan completed :
Cell 01 - Address: 00:29:E2:C1:CD:71
Channel:6
Frequency:2.437 GHz (Channel 6)
Quality=55/70 Signal level=-60 dBm

Ideas ?
Edit: I'm sorry for my bad english...

Nobody has an idea ?

I have the same issue with my laptop. It's not much of a problem, but it would be nice to be able to use 802.11n

Interesting, I never actually noticed that. Same here...

I've tried to compile compat-wireless but no change for me. With stable version no difference and with blending edge version unable to connect

I thought my 1000HE connected fine to my router once I had the router set up to do 802.11n correctly. I would think the router is more likely the problem. However, after ath9k started disconnecting every 5 minutes, I just put Windows 7 on the eee until it's fixed.

I don't think its a problem with the router, since my house mates mac connects using 802.11n.

I'm agree with bobdob. No problem with my router :

Does he just connect, or does he get 802.11n speeds?
I'm agree with bobdob. No problem with my router
Also, see below. Getting 802.11n routers to work at full speed tends to be tricky. My PS3 and Wii force it to connect my laptop at lower speeds most of the time.
Windows link, but helpful info:

I will try to run chakra on my Eee tonight to see what the connection looks like.

I'm not sure what speed he gets, but the router reports his mac is connected using 802.11n and my laptop is connected using 802.11g.
After looking at the change-log for 2.6.33 on the compat-wireless site, it looks like there are some patches which might effect this. If anyone using rc8 can test, it would be good. Else I'll compile it myself sometime this week.

All my computers use 802.11N or ethernet connection. If I test with only one computer : identical. So I deduced that the router isn't the problem.

Fair enough, I'll see if I can get it working tonight on my Eee.

The router might still be the problem. I experienced similar problems after having installed the router and after having it set up manually.
At that time I still used a laptop with ath9k-wifi-chipset and I couldn't connect (iirc I couldn't even iwlist the network).
Then I just ran the wireless wizard on the router and everything was hunkydory: 802.11n-speeds with the ath9k-driver (until kernel .30 iirc - after that kernel I had to use ndiswrapper and a little while later I switched to another laptop)
Zl.

I just tried kernel26-rc 2.6.33-rc8 from aur. Luckily the maintainer is hosting binaries. But it didn't make any difference.

Sorry, KDE karma says that networkmanager is still broken for me. I'll have to try netcfg this weekend to see if I can get that working. (this is why I put windows back on the Eee...)

Have you seen my post?

Have you seen my post?
I did. I was just trying one solution.
Btw, what routers does everyone have. Might is a D-Link DIR-615.

Mine is a D-Link DIR-655 iirc.
The error in my was that I had manually set up the wireless connection, and apparently I had used a setting that is not supported by some devices. The wizard set up the connection perfectly.

I'll play around with the router later when no-ones using it.

Same router here, this is why I was suspicious of the router first. Might just be a bad product.

Hum I have a Netgear WNR854T and a Netgear WNR3500L with DD-WRT. 3 differents routers with differents chipsets and we have the same problem. I doubt it.

I am quite sure that it is the ath9k driver.
Have any of you found a solution?

This is in fact the ath9k driver - a few weeks ago if you used 802.11n with ath9k it would give odd kernel panics. Sometimes only after many days, sometimes when logging in. I imagine the developers have disabled n until that can be solved.
