Printing works OK with printers currently configured from all apps, but when running systemsettings from the command line and launching the Printer Configuration, the following error is output. This did not happen in kde 4.3
extra/kdeadmin-system-config-printer-kde 4.4.0-1
Any ideas?

The application starts for me, but it doesn't look useful: my local printers are listed, but there is no way to administer them. I'm not sure if that was the same in KDE 4.3 - I've never used it.
Good ideas do not need lots of lies told about them in order to gain public acceptance.

I have the same problem too..
In both x86 and x86_64 architectures..

The issue was also reported but never fixed here in post #441 http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=685518
So would this be a bug in kdeadmin-system-config-printer-kde or kdebindings-python (I'm assuming it's related to one of those)? And also would it be for Arch or go upstream?

So, I guess we should submit a bug report if one does not exist..

It's working for me now/again after the kdeadmin-system-config-printer-kde 4.4.1-2 update this week....

I see the same thing in the KDE Config Utility.
I would normally click on New Network Printer, and get presented with a bunch of oprions. Like Windows shareand other stuff. I have tried it in Kubuntu 1o LTS BETA to see if it was a KDE hting, but it worked fine, and all of the options were there.
What apps should I have installed to access Windows Shared Printers?
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem. Fresh install with KDE. Printer Configuration is not accessible. What can we do?

I have everything up-to-date (and KDE from [extra]), but get the same problem: printer configuration does not work in system setting (though it works via CUPS' web-interface).
My output is:

Yeah it seems to be a common result with every new release....I'm starting to wonder if it's become a joke with the devs.

every pyqt release we have to rebuild kdebindings. I did this (kdebindings 4.5.2-5, or 4.5.2-6 if you are using [testing]), but probably there is some bug with the KCModule and PyQt 4.7.7.
I already reported the issue here
