Windows TOO LARGE

I just installed Arch for my second (full) time...this time on a desktop. All of my windows seem excessively large...  (In the "Display" gui it only goes up to 800x600... )

any suggestions?

:: waving my *magic* wand ... *poof*
Hmmm - still at 800x600?

I guess the usual magic didn't work - so we need some hard info to help us/you out!
Please do what others have suggested above! (sorry, couldn't help myself ...)
