I'm using KDE 4.4 SC. When I activate the Strigi File Indexing it starts indexing files but at some point, it stops saying that the strigi indexing is inactive. This happens every time that I disable and then enable again the Strigi File Indexing.
Is there any logs for strigi or nepomuk? I don't know whats causing this problem.

I had nepomuk / strigi misbehaving until I (a) deleted their database / configfiles and (b) shouted at them. Not sure which helped. If you want to go for (a), the files / directories are
~/.kde4/share/{config/nepomuk{server,strigi}rc,apps/nepomuk}
Good ideas do not need lots of lies told about them in order to gain public acceptance.

I think what you described is how strigi works, it doesn't index constantly. Here it indexes, then stops and then after some time starts again.
I think it has to do with the free resources. If there's free memory to spare it starts indexing and then it stops. It also indexes in intervals.
But i could be wrong.

Whatever I do, I always end up with something horribly mis-configured.

Strigi acts as described above and that seems to be its normal behaviour, I would say. The problem in my case is I cannot find anything, as Nepomuk search constantly gives 0 answers...
"... being a Linux user is sort of like living in a house inhabited by a large family of carpenters and architects. Every morning when you wake up, the house is a little different. Maybe there is a new turret, or some walls have moved. Or perhaps someone has temporarily removed the floor under your bed."

Yes, thats my problem too. That's why I thought that Strigi behavior was a bug.

Being inactive from time to time is not a bug (it's a feature, because you want to work with your PC and strigi does slow your PC), but not finding anything is a bug.

Same problem here, I don't find any results, deleted the nepomuk config files, but still no result.
