Not quite sure when, but recent or fairly recent updates have broken the xf86-video-mga driver when you try and run mesa programs such as glxinfo, glgears, etc. The program fails with the error:
<programname>: ../common/drirenderbuffer.c:69: driNewRenderbuffer: Assertion `format == 0x1908 || format == 0x8050 || format == 0x8058 || format == 0x81A5 || format == 0x81A6 || format == 0x81A7 || format == 0x8D48' failed. Aborted
which is the same as reported for S3 chipsets at http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/17638
Have been forced to revert to Vesa driver for now.![]()
Found out later, things work okay again if I downgrade to:
libgl-7.6-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz
mga-dri-7.6-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz
mesa-7.6-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz
