Hi, I am very new and I am trying to install Arch on Virtualbox, I have installed fine and I am at the point where I need to install pacman. I follow the instructions and I type in:
pacman -Sy python
and I get this result:
(sorry if the pic is big, I couldnt copy and paste)
I have scoured the Beginners Guide but I cant seem to find a soloution. What do I do?? What info do I need to post?

Did you select a server from your mirror list?

ok I followed all those examples and still get the same response. I also cant seem to back up my mirrorlist.

You have the repos uncommented in /etc/pacman.conf? You'll need core, extra & community.
You need to be able to point pacman at your mirror I use the singular because there is only one in NZ:
ftp://mirror.ihug.net.nz/archlinux$repo/os/i686
What happens when you try to copy the mirrorlist?

Ok, my mirror list is blank, I must have done something to delete it all. What should I put in my mirror list for New Zealand? I see jasonwryan has posted one up there, what format do I put it as in my mirror list???
My pacman.conf (sorry about all the screenshots I had to do it that way because I can't copy and paste):

You can find a list of mirrors here:
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Mirrors
The format is like this:
Server = ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/$repo/os/i686
Offline
Open /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist and type in:
Server = ftp://mirror.ihug.co.nz/archlinux/$repo/os/i686
(assuming you are using an i686 machine, of course). Save the file, exit and try pacman again (also assuming, as bangkok_manouel suggested, that you can ping from the vm)...

What I might do is try again with the install and see what happens. Thanks for your help guys.
