Hi everyone.
I have acticated the gnome screensaver. It is set to blank my screen when idle. It is working but not as I expected. I want the screensaver to stop the light that is beneath the lcd screen. The screensaver is only blanking the screen, and it become black, but the bulb beneath the lcd matric is stil working. How can I make it to shut off that bulb? Is that even possible, or the screensaver is working exactly sa it is designet to work? Is there any other way to achieve my goal?
Regards.

To set the lcd backlight off, try
xset dpms force off
gnome-screensaver doesn't switch off the backlight afaik. you can manage that through power manager.

Thank you for your replay.
That command is working perfectly.
I stopped the gnome-screensaver, and set the power manager, but I still have the same problem. The screen gets black, and the backlight go off for a second. Then the backlight starts again, and the screen stays with the backlight on, but black screen. o.O

Any movement with the mouse, or touchpad (in case of laptops) or pressing of any key, brings the monitor out of the suspended state. so be extra careful not to do any movement after issuing the command.
also, give this a try
$ gnome-screensaver-command --lock && xset dpms force off

Everything I do has the same effect. The backlight go off for a moment, and in a few seconds it gets on again and the screen stays black
Very strange.
Anyway, I will have to close my lid. Hope that will turn off the backlight.
