error message /etc/rc.sysinit: unexpected EOF

Hi,

I have a strange error during booting which says

/etc/rc.sysinit: at  line 198: unexpected EOF while looking for matchin '`'

The system boots properly, but then I have no locales set.

Should I post my rc.sysinit file ?

PS: here is my /etc/rc.sysinit file..

Re: error message /etc/rc.sysinit: unexpected EOF

hi,

I fixed it.

The file /etc/crypttab was corrupted, it contained some binary crap. I emptied it (echo "" > /etc/crypttab )

And now the error is gone.

I still have some other problems, ldconfig  emits an error message:

[hardik@moonlight: ~ ]$ sudo ldconfig
ldconfig: ÓòÙ»³Ó¸FSóÄÍy£=ÅZ੯õ4Õjp±ßáktþY ÅçænùÖl]KCܸ5+NVÁsê)<¤ is not a known library type

Is your ldconfig issue related? If not, I suggest creating a new thread. Makes things easier on other people with problems.

Perhaps your /etc/ld.so.conf or /etc/ld.so.conf.d/... is/are corrupted?

Re: error message /etc/rc.sysinit: unexpected EOF

Hi,

yes, /etc/ld.so.conf and also /etc/profile was corrupted. I copied the corrupted files to a backup one, removed the corrupted file and re-installed the filesystem package. This fixed the problems.

I cannot say why they were corrupted though. I ad a warning at the startup and I repaired all the corrupted blocks...:(

I hope there is no other file which is corrupted.

regards,
Hardik
