Re: passphrase

hm interesting.
i find it extremely annoying that i have to find the hex key in order to connect to a network.
most of my friends are not very computer savy and dont even know what a hex is, and when i ask they always give me passphrases.

so if the passphrase is "shark" i can use

iwconfig eth0 essid NETWORK key s:shark

??

because i am seriously contemplating installing wicd or something

Re: passphrase

Its explained here http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wir … nual_setup

For WPA you will have to use wpa_supplicant for which the encoded string will be given to you by wpa_passphrase.

Re: passphrase

I tell you what m8, I use wicd and I love it. But I use it at work (on the machine I am on now actually) and it's nice because I switch to various networks all the time.....

Also, I noticed that once I configured and connected using wicd, my wifi connects even when I'm out of X, which means wicd makes for a great config too.
