FIXED: eog not recognizing svg files

It's weird but all of a sudden Eye of Gnome is no longer recognizing svg files.   The svg files open fine in Inkscape and Firefox, but EOG won't open them.  I get this message,"Could not load image 'untitled.svg'.Unrecognized image file format"

So, thinking I jim-jammed a config file in my $HOME, I created a new user, logged in and got the same error.

As I writing this I am realizing that any app or launcher that uses SVG is missing an icon.  Seems system-wide . . .
arista won't launch either:  glib.GError: Couldn't recognize the image file format for file '/usr/share/arista/ui/icon.svg'

Gnome 2.28.2
eog      2.28.2

UPDATE:  installed cairo-lcd  and it seemed to fix the arista issue.  SVG was fixed by cairo-lcd
