Help with eee 900 plz

Hi everyone, I've managed to get arch all installed on my eee 900 and everything is working well. But ( isn't there always a but! ) i'd really like it if when arch is loading it wouldn't display all the text about what it is doing etc.. I've tried adding the quiet option and this doesn't seem to make any difference to anything at all. I have spent a while using google to see if i could find an answer but it seems i must not be searching the right term etc.. If anyone has any ideas to help me i'd be very grateful.

maybe you'd like to install something like splashy?

Re: Help with eee 900 plz

Thanks for the reply ypatia, i did try installing splashy before but it said about removing things because of conflicts. I removed them and ended up having to do a fresh install of arch sad i'll have another look at it though. Would splashy hide all messages though??

Re: Help with eee 900 plz

well splashy shows a progress bar and a theme image... But the problem with it is that it doesn't show error messages.
Fedora's Plymouth is also a good solution: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Plymouth

if you don't want any theme but just quiet mode the syntax of the arch entry in menu.lst should be like this

title "your system"
root (hd0,1)
kernel /bla-bla-bla ro quiet

quiet

Re: Help with eee 900 plz

Quiet still has no effect at all for some reason :s Tried spalshy and it asked me to remove sysvinit again. I tried last time and had to re-install afterwards sad
It seems like the grub conf isn't being read to me. I tried changing the wait time until default boot and that responds fine just nothing for quiet :s
